ANALYSIS
The veteran outfielder had been out since early April after breaking his right foot, but it seems that everything is in working order once again. With no cracks in the big-league outfield yet, Bogusevic will continue to act as an organizational depth piece until his services are needed.

Bogusevic started 27 games in left field for the Cubs last season, including 14 in September, which probably says more about the state of the organization than his own talent. He posted a respectable .784 OPS in 143 at-bats with the Cubs, after an undistinguished three-year stint with the Astros, but he's 30 and has never had any real sustained success. Bogusevic was traded to Miami in December, where he will compete for a fifth outfielder spot in spring training.
Bogusevic finally got a shot at extended playing time last year, and the former first-round pick took advantage, posting a .287/.348/.457 line through 164 at-bats, fueled largely by a strong second half. It's tough to recommend him for fantasy purposes, as he'll probably never be a power hitter and has yet to show the speed he exhibited in the minor leagues. Bogusevic is out of options, so the team will give him every shot to win a starting job in its rebuilding outfield in 2012.
The Astros finally got to see their former number one pick in a big league uniform, albeit as an outfielder and not a pitcher. Bogusevic only made his way into 19 games and didn't show much, but in Triple-A, he did exhibit some speed with a modicum of power. With a little luck, he could bring some of that success with him to Houston as a fifth outfielder / left-handed bat off the bench.
Bogusevic's transformation from starting pitcher to outfielder is nearly complete. He draws enough walks to get by and his speed is an obvious attraction should he manage to find a regular spot in the order. Don't expect a power spike when he reaches the bigs, but a season as the Astros' fourth outfielder and primary pinch-runner isn't out of the question.
Bogusevic spent a few weeks at High-A Salem before being promoted to Double-A Corpus Christi where he hit .371/.447/.556 with three homers, 10 doubles, 20 RBI and eight steals in nine chances in 124 at-bats. Bogusevic will be 25 in February, so the fact that he still hasn't progressed beyond Double-A doesn’t bode well. He has better than average speed, but not much pop. Expect him to spend the year between Corpus Christi and Triple-A Round Rock.
Bogusevic made 17 starts at Low-A Lexington, going 2-5 with a 4.73 ERA. He has plus velocity and a great slider and good command and control, but due to health issues, he will turn 23 in spring training with just 70 innings of experience playing full season ball. He will start the year at High-A Salem
A two-way player from Tulane, Bogusevic was the Astros' No. 1 pick in '05. He relieved at Tri-City, but projects as a starter with three good pitches, getting into the low 90s with his fastball. He's at least two full seasons away.
