2021 Fantasy Outlook
Paredes was a secret to a large portion of the baseball world, but in October, the cat got out of the bag. He shined in the postseason and in the ALDS in particular, taking the ball three times against Oakland in that series and pitching 3.2 innings without a single hit or walk allowed. There were a couple slight bumps in the road against the Rays in the ALCS, but the 25-year-old opened eyes with his 95.7-mph fastball and wipeout slider. The slider had a whiff rate pushing 50 percent during the regular season and Paredes looks ready to play a sizable role on the bridge to the ninth inning for Houston. If he can rein in his control (12.2 BB% last season), Paredes could enter the closer conversation down the road. In AL-only leagues, you could do worse. The stuff plays against big-league hitters.
