FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Sonny Gray NYY vs. BAL ($8,900): Gray has been pretty good since coming over from Oakland, owning a 2.66 ERA, .205 BAA, .278 wOBA allowed and 23.4 percent strikeout rate. That's really all that needs to be stated here, but Baltimore has a minus–5.2 wRAA and 22.2 percent strikeout rate against right-handed pitching.

CATCHER

Chance Sisco, BAL at NYY ($2,000): Wellington Castillo caught the majority of Saturday night's game, giving Sisco a solid probability of being in the lineup Sunday afternoon. Sisco merely needs to reach base to provide a return on the bottom-tiered price, and while Sonny Gray has only a 7.6 percent walk rate, Sisco has two extra base hits and two walks in his last two appearances. It's a very minute sample size, but there's basically no risk involved.

FIRST BASE

Freddie Freeman, ATL vs. NYM ($4,100): Stacking Braves bats, specifically left-handed bats, against Robert Gsellman seems wise. Gsellman has a 7.61 ERA on the road, where he's allowing lefties to post a .441 wOBA and 1.055 OPS. Freeman's power upside gives him the nod over contact guys like Ozzie Albies in tournaments, and his .475 wOBA, 196 wRC+ and 1.155 OPS at home against righties clearly shows that potential.

SECOND BASE

Dustin Pedroia, BOS at TAM ($3,600): Pedroia has 12 hits in his last eight games, posting a .357 wOBA and 119 wRC+ against righties in that span. He's also faired well against Rays starter Jake Odorizzi in an extended look, going 13-of-30 (.433) with three homers and two doubles, leading to a 1.252 OPS.

THIRD BASE

Josh Donaldson, TOR at MIN ($3,700): There's an $800 difference between Kris Bryant and the next-priced option at the hot corner, and Donaldson, along with three others, are $100 lower than that, suggesting a bargain regardless of matchup. Donaldson has a .389 wOBA, 143 wRC+ and 41.3 percent fly ball rate against righties, while having gone deep three times in his last two games. Twins' starter Kyle Gibson has a 5.50 home ERA while allowing same-handed bats to post a 25.0 percent homer to fly ball rate.

SHORTSTOP

Didi Gregorius, NYY vs. BAL ($3,300): Gregorius is having himself a nice little series against the Orioles, driving in seven runs while going deep in both games. He has a solid .360 wOBA and 123 wRC+ against righties, while Ubaldo Jimenez has been peppered but the Yankees this season, allowing four homers and 11 earned runs over three appearances, lasting only 8.2 innings.

OUTFIELD

Avisail Garcia, CWS at DET ($4,100): Garcia has been terrific all year against lefties, and even more so on the road, where he sports a .466 wOBA, 198 wRC+ and 1.120 OPS. Meanwhile, Tigers' starter Matt Boyd is allowing opposite-handed bats to post a .377 wOBA against him at home.

George Springer, HOU vs. SEA ($3,400): Mariners' starter Andrew Moore has been torched on the road by same-handed bats, allowing a .384 wOBA and six home runs across 35 batters faced. Springer counters with a .391 wOBA, 149 wRC+ and .928 OPS at home against righties.

Josh Reddick, HOU vs. SEA ($3,400): Given the reduced prices, I see no reason not to load up on Astros bats. The aforementioned Andrew Moore has been solid over his last two outings, allowing three runs over 12.0 innings, but he still carries a 5.36 ERA. Reddick has been brilliant against righties, owing a .407 wOBA, 159 wRC+ and .963 OPS since Aug. 18.
