Saunders was released by the Blue Bombers on Wednesday in wake of sexual assault allegations levied against the wideout, 3DownNation reports.

Saunders was accused in a formal complaint by a 22-year-old woman of a sexual assault that allegedly took place this past weekend according to a report from Jeff Hamilton of the Winnipeg Free Press. In a statement from the team made available in Hamilton's report, the Blue Bombers became aware of the allegation on Tuesday and, after an internal review, "this player was immediately released by [the] organization." These allegations have yet to be proven in court and no formal charges have been brought against Saunders - who has returned to his home in the United States since his release.
