Inefficient in bowl game
Hampton notched 19 carries for 62 yards and reeled in all three targets for seven yards during Wednesday's 30-10 loss against West Virginia.
ANALYSIS
Hampton posted huge numbers over a six games span from Weeks 7-12, totaling 137 caries for 953 yards and eight rushing scores while adding 16 catches for 126 yards and another touchdown, but he closed the season out with a couple of sour notes. In the final two games, he tallied just 28 carries for 90 yards and no touchdowns, trimming his season total short of what could have been. Still, the sophomore posted an impressive campaign with 253 rush attempts for 1,504 yards and 15 touchdowns, adding 29 catches for 222 yards and a score as a receiver as well. He'll likely head into 2024 as the favorite to lead the Tar Heels' running back room.
