2023 Fantasy Outlook
Brissett kept the seat warm for 11 starts last season while the Browns waited for Deshaun Watson to serve his suspension. He held his own in the caretaker role, finishing middle of the pack (more or less) in most passing stats despite struggling on deep throws. While he looked downfield at a good clip -- his 8.5 average target depth ranked seventh and his 47 attempts of 20-plus yards were sixth most through Week 12 -- his on-target percentage ranked 22nd (42.6) and he threw four interceptions on deep attempts (3rd most). After signing with Washington this offseason, Brissett enters training camp as the backup to Sam Howell. Washington wants Howell, whose only start last season came in Week 18, to win the job, but if Brissett finds himself under center he’ll have a good trio of wideouts to target, led by Terry McLaurin. While unlikely to do much more than what he did in Cleveland last season, Brissett is accurate enough to have value in two-QB leagues if he's surrounded by decent talent. Read Past Outlooks

Reunion in New England
Brissett has agreed to terms on a one-year, $8 million contract with New England, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It remains to be seen what the Patriots choose to do with their No. 3 selection in this year's draft, but Brissett is now the No. 1 option under center with New England one day removed from dealing Mac Jones to the Jaguars. The journeyman quarterback started his career with the Pats in 2016 and actually started two games in place of a suspended Tom Brady. He then spent his next four seasons with the Colts, both as a backup and starter before subsequently spending one year each with the Dolphins, Browns and Commanders. If the team does decide to draft a quarterback, Brissett still could start while the team develops someone behind him or use him as a top-tier backup option.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Improved numbers predicted
Brissett, who signed with the Patriots this offseason, is predicted by Kevin Patra of NFL.com to have better numbers in 2024 than he did last season with the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
The ultra-reliable veteran signal-caller will begin his second tour of duty with the Patriots as head coach Jerod Mayo tackles the unenviable task of succeeding future Hall of Fame coach Bill Belichick. Brissett's signing puts the team in very good hands while it breaks in what is expected to be a star rookie quarterback that will be selected third overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, and Patra suggests Brissett will see enough playing time to surpass the 224 yards and three touchdowns he threw for over three games in Washington last season.

With Deshaun Watson suspended for the first 11 games of the season, Brissett will start under center for the Browns out of the gate unless the team makes a last-second trade for another quarterback. It's not a good scenario for the Browns nor fantasy managers. Brissett's 70.0 percent on-target rate in 11 games last year with the Dolphins ranked 29th of 33 QBs with at least 225 attempts. And on attempts of 20-plus yards, he completed just eight of 22. When he plays, it figures to be mostly be as a game manager for an offense that rides running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt.
