Tyron Smith
33-Year-Old
Joining Jets
Smith has agreed to a one-year contract with the Jets on Friday, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith spent his first 13 seasons with the Cowboys and established himself as one of the league's best offensive tackles. Offensive line was a weakness for the Jets in 2023, but Smith's addition will help improve the unit. The veteran tackle is now projected to protect Aaron Rodgers' (Achilles) blind side in the upcoming season.

Finds new home in Big Apple
Smith, who'd spent his entire 13-year career with the Cowboys, signed a one-year deal that could be worth up to $20 million with the Jets on Friday, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
There had been plenty of talk of the Cowboys' interest in working something out with their 2011 first-round pick, but the Jets ultimately presented a more appealing landing spot. New York had a significant need at offensive line heading into the offseason after allowing 64 sacks last season, and Smith will now be charged with the all-important task of protecting future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers' from the left tackle spot in 2024.

The 32-year-old has made eight Pro Bowls in his career, but Smith has played only 17 games total over the last three seasons and hasn't been able to stay healthy enough to handle a full schedule since 2015. When he's on the field though, he remains a stalwart left tackle for Dak Prescott.
