DraftKings NHL: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

The main event contests at DraftKings are comprised of Sunday's four evening games, which start with the bout between Winnipeg and Carolina. Here are a handful of recommendations across a number of salary ranges to consider for your lineups…

GOALIE

Petr Mrazek, DET vs. CGY ($7,900): After posting an eighth best .931 save percentage at five-on-five among goalies with at least 2,000 minutes last season, Mrazek's start to 2016-17 has been a major disappointment. However, he grabs a winnable game against Calgary at home, as the Flames enter averaging just 1.89 goals per road game this season. Additionally, the reasonable salary helps your lineup flexibility.

CENTER

Victor Rask, CAR vs. WPG ($5,600): Among skaters with at least 200 minutes at five-on-five this season, Rask's 2.39 points per 60 minutes ranks 19th in the league, and he grabs Winnipeg on the tail end of consecutive road games. He's locked into an offensive role with an average of 2:20 of power-play time per game while starting 66.5 percent of his shifts in the opposition's zone.

Henrik Zetterberg, DET vs. CGY ($5,300): Following a slow start (four points through the first 10 games), Zetterberg has found his groove with seven points -- three goals -- over his past eight games with an average of 20:15 of ice time per night (3:22 with the man advantage). Calgary has also allowed 3.16 goals per road game dating back to last season.

Calgary has also allowed 3.16 goals per road game dating back to last season.

WING

Gustav Nyquist, DET vs. CGY ($5,500): Mired in a 12-game goal drought, Nyquist has also gone 26 shots without a tally. He entered 2016-17 with a 14.1 shooting percentage through the previous three seasons, so positive regression is ahead, especially since he's averaged 18:13 per night with 3:23 of power-play time during the goalless run. Calgary has also allowed 3.26 goals per game.

Jakob Silfverberg, ANH vs. LOS ($5,200): Notoriously streaky, the affordable Silfverberg has caught fire of late with four goals, nine points and 18 shots on net over his past seven games. Additionally, he is averaging a healthy 18:35 of ice time per game with 2.44 shots per contest. Facing the Kings on the wrong end of back-to-back games also presents a solid matchup.

Sebastian Aho, CAR vs. WPG ($3,900): The rookie has two goals, three helpers and 11 shots on net over his past four games, and he grabs the Jets on the second leg of back-to-back road games. This is a cushy salary, and Aho is locked into a top-six role.

DEFENSE

Justin Faulk, CAR vs. WPG ($5,200): The Jets are playing their second road game in consecutive nights, and Faulk is now two games removed from the upper-body injury that sidelined him for three outings. Faulk is a high-volume shooter (2.38 shots per game), and he has a 20th-ranked 1.41 points per 60 minutes among defenseman with at least 3,500 minutes over the past three years.

Sami Vatanen, ANH vs. LOS ($4,700): Despite averaging 21:57 (3:34 on the power play) per night over his past seven games, Vatanen has just a single assist, 11 shots on net and 15 blocked shots — which has his salary down here. However, over the past four years, the 25-year-old defenseman owns a 16th-ranked 1.49 points per 60 minutes among defenseman with at least 4,000 minutes played, which suggests a turnaround is in order soon as he faces Los Angeles in their second game of a back-to-back.
