NHL Waiver Wire: Picks of the Week

This article is part of our NHL Waiver Wire series.

This week the Flyers have their five-day bye week and play just two games. The rest of the league all have at least three games with 15 teams playing four times. Monitoring the schedule isn't as critical this week, as next weekend things shut down for All-Star weekend.

A number of surging players are floating around on plenty of waiver wires, and all three forwards are moving the needle enough to be viewed as coveted assets worth forking over your FAAB for. Additionally, Mike Condon will be the No. 1 starter for Ottawa for the foreseeable future and is worth a long look for goalie-starved clubs.

Remember to double-check the availability of players previously covered in this space and keep tabs on the recommended adds in the our Daily Puck articles throughout the week…

Vincent Trocheck, F, FLA (Yahoo: 52%, ESPN: 61.6%, CBS: 70%): With three multi-point showings during his current four-game point streak, Trocheck has caught fire and posted five goals, 11 points and 28 shots through his past nine games. During the offensive surge, the 23-year-old center has averaged 22:58 of ice time per game with 3:05 on the power play. Trocheck should be owned in almost all seasonal leagues while producing at a high level.

Patrick Maroon, F, EDM (Yahoo: 52%, ESPN: 50.4%, CBS: 73%):: Lining up with Connor McDavid has been fantasy gold for Maroon, as the 28-year-old winger has 10 goals, 11 points and 37 shots through his past 12 games. Additionally, he's

Additionally, he's also added 22 PIM and 34 hits with a plus-8 rating during that span. For the year, Maroon and McDavid have also combined for an otherworldly 4.0 goals per 60 minutes at five-on-five.

Anthony Mantha, F, DET (Yahoo: 34%, ESPN: 48.4%, CBS: 74%): Through his past 12 games, the rookie winger is up to seven goals, 15 points and 33 shots on net. He also has four multi-point showings during the stretch and has averaged a healthy 18:15 of ice time with 2:26 on the man advantage. There aren't many settings where he should be floating on the waiver wire.

Nathan Beaulieu, D, MON (Yahoo: 24%, ESPN: 30.1%, CBS: 45%): With a spike in ice time (25:03 per game with 2:57 on the power play through his past 13 outings), Beaulieu's fantasy stock is on the rise again. During the 13-game stretch, he's notched nine points, 32 shots and 26 blocked shots to provide a rock-solid fantasy return dating back to late December. The only concern is whether a healthy Andrei Markov (lower body) will impact Beaulieu's role once the veteran returns.

Mike Condon, G, OTT (Yahoo: 44%, ESPN: 32%, CBS: 46%)Craig Anderson isn't expected to return from a personal absence until late January or early February, which leaves Condon as the top dog between the pipes for Ottawa. There has been some game-to-game inconsistency from Condon, but his heavy volume of starts makes him a strong add in most seasonal leagues. Plus, his 10 wins, 2.38 GAA and .917 save percentage through 19 starts are serviceable marks.
