DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

It's an unusually busy Monday in the NHL, with six games on the docket. This is probably due to the fact the NHL is taking a few days off for the All-Star Game this weekend, so take advantage of the opportunity of the deeper player pool while you can, and perhaps we can help you find some nice values.

GOALIE

Roberto Luongo, FLA vs. ARI ($7,600): The Coyotes picked up a win in their last game, a rare feat for them. Arizona is only 3-6-1 in their last 10 contests, and they rank 29th in both goals scored per game and goals allowed per game. Luongo also has a healthy .921 save percentage, but this is as much about the Panthers' chances of picking up a win against the lowly Coyotes.

CENTER

Logan Couture, SAN at COL ($6,300): The only team giving up more goals than the Coyotes is the Avalanche, who are allowing 3.34 goals per game. Couture has scored 15 goals on 124 shots in 46 games. He also has eight power-play points, and Colorado ranks 25th in penalty-kill percentage.

Vincent Trocheck, FLA at ARI ($6,100): As previously mentioned, the Coyotes are 29th in goals against average (3.24). They also allow the most shots on goal per game in the league as well (33.8). Trocheck has been playing some fantastic hockey recently, notching six goals and four assists in his last seven games. On the season, he's averaging 3.4 fantasy points per game, and he should be able to at least match that against Arizona.

WING

Corey Perry, ANA at WPG ($6,200): Perry has been quite snakebitten this season, as he currently has a 6.6 shooting percentage. That's the worst of his career, and in his last 10 seasons he's never finished with a percentage lower than 10.0. However, despite his scoring woes, he's still tallied 34 points, including 16 with the extra man. The Jets have a team GAA of 3.06, and they rank 25th on the penalty kill, so perhaps Perry can find a little luck in this one.

Mitch Marner, TOR vs. CGY ($5,700): While you don't want to read too much into the fact the Flames have given up 11 goals over their last two games, it is notable, and Calgary does rank 18th in goals allowed per contest. Marner has been racking up the assists recently, tallying eight in his last six tilts. Overall, he's averaging 3.4 fantasy points per game, and the rookie comes at a very reasonable price in what's a pretty good matchup.

Matthew Tkachuk, CGY at TOR ($4,600): Marner isn't the only intriguing rookie in this matchup. Tkachuk has racked up 30 points in his first campaign, including a fairly recent nine-game point streak. The Leafs allow 2.84 goals and 32.7 shots on net per game, the latter of which places Toronto in the bottom five in the league. Tkachuk isn't one of the rookies we are hearing a lot about, but he looks like an enticing value here.

DEFENSE

Aaron Ekblad, FLA at ARI ($4,300): The Coyotes, as previously noted, have been quite generous when it comes to letting their opponents tally shots on net. Ekblad registers a significant number of shots on goal for a defenseman, as he has 154 in 48 games. It has been awhile since he's lit the lamp, but he still has seven goals, and he plays 3:04 a night on the power play. The goals should come eventually, especially if Ekblad keeps racking up the shots.

Sami Vatanen, ANA at WPG ($4,200): Vatanen doesn't take a ton of shots, but he's still got 17 points, including 11 on the power play. He's averaging 3:09 per game with the extra man, and the Jets are 25th in penalty-kill percentage. Vatanen has also generated some real fantasy value with his defensive play, as he's blocked 92 shots. That can give him a little extra fantasy boost.
