Retiring from professional fighting
WelterweightOther
May 11, 2021
Jouban (nose) announced Tuesday via his personal Twitter account that he has retired from mixed martial arts.
ANALYSIS
Jouban recently completed a six-month medical suspension due to a nasal fracture, and though he's seemingly healthy again, the 39-year-old apparently has no plans to return to the Octagon. "Brahma" will step away from professional fighting with a career 17-7 record, and he'll go out on a winning note after notching a unanimous-decision victory in his final fight against Jared Gooden last November. Jouban went 8-5 during his time in the UFC.

Looking at six-month absence
WelterweightOther
November 23, 2020
Jouban has been suspended six months by the Nevada Athletic Commission pending a physician's clearance of a nasal fracture, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jouban got the nod from the judges following his 15-minute war with Jared Gooden on Saturday, but was definitely wearing the damage after the fight. He ultimately absorbed 100 significant strikes in this matchup, with 79 of those landing to his head. No stranger to long layoffs, Jouban might see another six-month stretch without action unless he gets earlier clearance from an approved doctor.
Secures win following long layoff
WelterweightOther
November 21, 2020
Jouban defeated Jared Gooden via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at UFC 255 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Fighting for this first time in nearly 600 days, this fight quickly deteriorated into the typical brawl we are accustomed to seeing in virtually all of Jouban's bouts. Gordon proved to be a worthy adversary but Jouban landed early and often on the feet throughout the course of the fight. He did so with a right eye that was almost completely swollen shut following an accidental clash of heads between the two men. Jouban is tough as nails and an underrated athlete but his striking defense has always been below-average and he's barely fought the past three years. He also turns 38 years of age next week. Jouban is going to have to get back into the octagon sooner rather than later if he hopes to make any sort of run at 170 pounds.
Set to fight Gooden Nov. 21
WelterweightOther
September 21, 2020
Jouban will fight Jared Gooden at the UFC event November 21, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jouban will be making his first appearance in the Octagon since April of 2019 when he lost a split decision to Dwight Grant. The late November bout with Gooden will be at Welterweight.
Drops close split decision to Dwight Grant
WelterweightOther
April 13, 2019
Jouban lost to Dwight Grant via split decision (28-29, 30-27, 28-29) at UFC 236 on Saturday in Atlanta.
ANALYSIS
Jouban may have very well deserved a better fate in his first fight in more than 14 months, but the truth of the matter is that neither man did much of anything. As a result, it's difficult to get overly upset about the judges' decision. Jouban landed just 25 total strikes over the course of the 15-minute bout and for a guy who relies on his striking to generate offense, that's not going to get the job done. The 36-year-old Jouban has won just once since December 2016.
Fighting Dwight Grant at UFC 236

March 18, 2019
The UFC announced Saturday that Jouban (neck) would return to the Octagon on April 13 in Atlanta to face Dwight Grant (9-2-0) in a welterweight bout, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Jouban (16-6-0) will be fighting for the first time since February after a neck injury he suffered while training kept him out of action for around 14 months. "Brahma," 37, owns a 7-4-0 record since joining the promotion in 2014.
