Hangs tough in final fight
Light HeavyweightOther
July 25, 2020
Nogueira lost to Mauricio Rua via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
The (likely) final fight of Nog's career was a competitive, back-and-forth affair. Quite frankly, Nog looked pretty good for a fighter who turned 44 years of age in early-June. The Brazilian hadn't fought much over the last few years but managed to stay somewhat effective over the later stages of his career. Nog finishes with a 2-3 record in his final five fights, a reasonable outcome given his age and overall inactivity. Nog had a terrific run, fighting all over the globe and against the top fighters the sport had to offer for the better part of nearly two decades. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him remain involved with the company in some sort of ambassador role in the future. Nog remains extremely popular, especially in his native Brazil.

Nogueira is scheduled to fight Mauricio Rua at the UFC's July 25 event, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nogueira and Rua were scheduled to fight at UFC 250, but issues acquiring visas caused their bout to be cancelled back in April. Off UFC 250 card
Light HeavyweightOther
April 9, 2020
Nogueira and Mauricio Rua have both been removed from the UFC 250 card due to visa issues stemming from the event's location change, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Nogueira and Rua were slated to go at it for the third time in Sao Paulo on May 9, but neither possesses the visa required to work in a US-sanctioned event. As a result, Noguiera will be forced to wait until a later date to return to the octagon, though it's unclear at this juncture when that will be.
Re-booked for UFC Sao Paulo
Light HeavyweightOther
February 20, 2020
Nogueira will fight Mauricio Rua at UFC Sao Paulo on May 9, Brett Okamoto of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Nogueira was initially booked to fight Trevor Smith at UFC Sao Paulo, but he was forced to withdraw due to a back injury. Now evidently returned to full health, the veteran will take on a 38-year-old former champion in the form of Rua, better known as Shogun. Nogueira lost his previous fight in the first round, so he'll be hungry to bounce back at UFC Sao Paulo.

September 25, 2019
Nogueira was forced to withdraw from his fight against Trevor Smith at UFC Sao Paulo due to a back injury, Marcelo Barone and Raphael Marinho of Combate reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear how severe the veteran fighter's injury is at this time, but it is serious enough to keep him out of the November fight. Alonzo Menifield will step in and take on Smith in Washington D.C. in December.
