DraftKings MLB: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

PITCHER

Gio Gonzalez, WAS vs. PIT ($10,500): The final day of the regular season is always a minefield for DFS, as players try to navigate around pitchers who may be pulled early. There have been no such reports regarding Gonzalez, who has notched a 13.3 RAA with his fastball this season. Meanwhile, the Pirates have logged the third-lowest RAA against the heater and should struggle with Gonzalez's ground ball tendencies, as they have hit the ball on the ground at a 47 percent rate.

Blake Snell, TB vs. BAL ($6,700): Snell has had success with his changeup in 2017, and he will head into the final start of the season having registered a 6.8 RAA with the pitch. The Orioles have logged a bottom-10 RAA against the change while tallying just a .306 wOBA away from Camden Yards.

CATCHER

Chris Iannetta, ARI at KC ($3,800): The D-Backs are one of the worst offensive teams on the road, but it appears Iannetta didn't get that memo, as he has tallied a .277 ISO away from Chase Field over 137 at-bats. Opposing starter Jason Vargas has kept a 1.3 HR/9 rate against right-handed hitters this season to go along with a 33.5 percent hard contact rate.

FIRST BASE

Ryan Zimmerman, WAS vs. PIT ($4,200):Steven Brault has kept a 3.86 ERA over his 10 games (three starts) this season but owns just a 13.6 percent strikeout rate and 36.8 percent hard contact rate against righty hitters. Zimmerman has scorched his opposite hand in 2017, as evidenced by the .325 ISO and 43 percent hard contact rate he has over 126 at-bats.

SECOND BASE

Ozzie Albies, ATL at MIA ($3,500): Albies has shown himself to be an exciting prospect in the Braves' system down the stretch, notching a .359 wOBA and six stolen bases with an 18:13 K:BB ratio in 111 at-bats in September. Jose Urena has struck out just 39 left-handed hitters in 78.2 innings this season, contributing to a 6.20 xFIP over that span.

THIRD BASE

Logan Forsythe, LAD at COL ($4,300): Forsythe may not have a regular spot in the lineup when Justin Turner is healthy, but he should still see at-bats against lefties, as he has tallied a .386 wOBA and 43 percent hard contact rate against them over 122 at-bats. Tyler Anderson has thrown the ball reasonably well at Coors Field but has allowed a .502 slugging percentage to righties over 61.2 innings.

SHORTSTOP

Zack Cozart, CIN at CHC ($4,000): Cozart has hammered left-handed pitching to the tune of a .302 ISO and .447 wOBA over 96 at-bats this season. Mike Montgomery has thrown the ball well out of the bullpen of late but kept just a 13:9 K:BB ratio over 18.1 innings in September, contributing to a 4.93 xFIP. It should be noted that Cozart sat out Saturday due to tightness in his right quadriceps, but manager Bryan Price indicated that he was rested with the purpose of getting him in the lineup for the season finale.

OUTFIELD

Carlos Gonzalez, COL vs. LAD ($4,600): Gonzalez is in the process of capping off a disappointing season with an exclamation point, as he notched a .390 ISO and .510 wOBA over 77 at-bats in September. Opposing starter Ross Stripling has a 5.91 ERA over 32 innings on the road, which should give the Rockies' offense a nice start in what will likely be a bullpen game for the Dodgers.

Nick Castellanos, DET at MIN ($3,600): Our old friend Bartolo Colon will step on the mound for the final game of the season, giving us one last opportunity to exploit his fastball, which has registered a league-worst minus-33.4 RAA. Castellanos has tallied an 11.8 RAA against the heater this season and a .281 ISO over 114 at-bats in September.

Aaron Hicks, NYY vs. TOR ($4,200): Hicks has been in the lineup sporadically since being activated from the disabled list Tuesday, but he should have the opportunity to draw into the starting lineup against lefty Brett Anderson, as he has notched a .206 ISO and a .382 wOBA against southpaws over 107 at-bats. Anderson hasn't fared well against either side of the platoon in 2017, resulting in a 6.97 ERA over 50.1 innings.
