ANALYSIS
Grayson's last regular season action in the NFL was in 2015 with the Saints. The Colorado State product signed a future/reserve contract with the Broncos in January after spending most of the 2018 season on their practice squad. Wide receiver Chad Hansen was also waived by Denver on Thursday, likely to make room for undrafted free agents.

Drew Brees will once again enter the year as the starting quarterback, and offseason addition Chase Daniel is expected to serve as his primary backup. It's unclear whether the Saints will roster a third quarterback, but if they do, Grayson, who is entering his third NFL season, will need a strong preseason to secure the job over fifth-year pro Ryan Nassib.
Grayson was drafted in the third round of last year's NFL Draft, but serving as the third-string quarterback behind Drew Brees and Luke McCown, he did not attempt a single pass during his rookie campaign. Grayson will have the opportunity to compete with McCown during training camp, but even if he earns the backup role, it will take a Brees injury for him to have relevancy in fantasy leagues.
Grayson, drafted in the third round (75th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft, was the highest the Saints have selected a quarterback since drafting Archie Manning with the no. 2 overall pick in 1971. Despite throwing for over 4,000 yards and 32 touchdowns last season in a pro-style offense at Colorado State, Grayson was knocked for his size (6-foot-2, 213 pounds), limited arm strength, and history of shoulder injuries (sound familiar?). He may eventually be the heir to Drew Brees’ throne, but Grayson is unlikely to unseat either Luke McCown or Ryan Griffin as Brees’ primary backup in 2015.
