DraftKings NHL: Wednesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Eddie Lack, CGY at DET ($7,400): No. 1 Mike Smith (undisclosed) didn't travel with the team to Detroit on Tuesday, so it will likely be Lack between the pipes against the Red Wings. Lack has only started one game all season and sports a discouraging .857 save percentage through three appearances. However, it's a soft matchup. Detroit is averaging just 2.61 goals per game (sixth fewest) and generating the 12th fewest high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (10.5). Lack is worth considering with the limited options.

CENTER

Patrice Bergeron, BOS at ANA ($7,200): Anaheim is depleted with injuries up the middle, so Bergeron should see softer five-on-five matchups than usual. Of course, he's also a staple on the No. 1 power-play unit. The veteran enters in strong form with three goals, seven points and 25 shots through his past seven outings, and Anaheim have allowed the second most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (13.3) in the league.

Mark Jankowski, CGY at DET ($3,500): A low-priced flier, Jankowski has scored three goals and added an assist in his past two games. He's been a solid scorer in the AHL (62 points through 72 games) and is centering an intriguing line with Sam Bennett and Jaromir Jagr. With Detroit focused on slowing down Calgary's top lines, Jankowski and his wingers should see a number of favorable in-game matchups.

WING

David Pastrnak, BOS at ANA ($7,400): A strong stack candidate to pair with Patrice Bergeron, Pastrnak is following up last season's 34-goal, 70-point showing in style. The winger has four goals, nine points and 22 shots while logging 19:49 of ice time (4:15 on the power play) through his past seven outings. His strong recent form matches well with the previously mentioned soft matchup against Anaheim.

Pavel Buchnevich, NYR at CHI ($5,900): Until Buchnevich's prices catches up to his impressive numbers, he's worth considering nightly. The 22-year-old winger has collected seven goals, 11 points and 29 shots through his past nine contests, and the Blackhawks have surrendered the fourth-most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (12.7) in the league.

Alex DeBrincat, CHI vs. NYR ($4,000): The rookie keeps on scoring and is up to five goals and seven points through his past seven contests. Unfortunately, his ice time and role are all over the map. However, DeBrincat's salary is easily slid under the cap, and this is a cushy matchup. The Rangers have surrendered the most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes (13.4) in the league.

DEFENSE

Duncan Keith, CHI vs. NYR ($4,900): With just a single assist through his past nine games, this is a buy-low spot for Keith. His salary is down, but he's buoyed his fantasy value with 20 shots and 22 blocked shots during the nine-game slump. Additionally, he's still logging monster minutes (25:10 with 3:28 on the power play), so he offers a high floor out of a shallow player pool. As noted, the matchup checks out, too.

Sami Vatanen, ANA vs. BOS ($3,700): At this price, Vatanen's role on the No. 1 power-play unit makes him a solid value play. He's only registered a goal and an assist through seven contests but has averaged 22:01 of ice time (3:27 with the man advantage) over his past four outings. The opportunity is there, and Vatanen has also moved the needle in the shot and blocked shot columns over the years.
