DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Monday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Frederik Andersen, TOR vs TB ($7,700): Andersen has won each of his last two games and has had a ton of support in doing so. The Maple Leafs have scored 17 goals over their last four games and Andersen has been good at home, which is where he finds himself Monday. At the Air Canada Centre, Andersen is 14-7 with a .922 save percentage and a 2.63 GAA. The 28-year-old has a lot of upside in a spot in which he won't be a popular play in DFS circles due to the opposition.

CENTER

Aleksander Barkov, FLA at EDM ($7,100): The 22-year-old sees 22:15 of ice time a night, the most of any center in the league, and skates on the Panthers top power-play unit as well as the penalty kill. Of his 18 goals, two have come with the man advantage and five have come short-handed, the most in the league. Edmonton has a 3.26 GAA, the third-highest mark in the NHL, and they have the worst penalty kill with just a 72 percent kill rate.

Derek Stepan, ARI vs CHI ($4,900): Stepan comes into Monday's matchup with a point in each of his last three games. In his first season with Arizona, Stepan has 35 points with six of them coming on the power play. The Blackhawks have struggled against centers over the last four weeks, allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to the position over that span. Chicago has lost five straight games, allowing 18 goals over that span and putting Stepan in a favorable spot.

WING

James van Riemsdyk, TOR vs TB ($5,300): Van Riemsdyk continues to be a scoring threat for the Maple Leafs with a goal in each of his last two games and four shots on goal in each of his last three contests. The power forward averages 9.33 individual high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes, the highest mark in the NHL. With three goals and two assists in his last six games against the Lightning, van Riemsdyk is a viable option to keep his production up Monday.

Alex DeBrincat, CHI at ARI ($5,100): The 20-year-old rookie has dazzled for the Blackhawks. The American has 19 goals and 15 assists in his first go around in the league and seven of those points have come on the power play. With five goals in his last seven games, DeBrincat comes into Mondays matchup in good form against the struggling Coyotes.

Yanni Gourde, TB at TOR ($5,400): Gourde is just another weapon that the Lightning have been able to use at their disposal as they lead the NHL with 3.56 goals per game. Skating on the first line of late, Gourde has at least one point in nine of his last 10 games with seven goals and five assists over that span. Pairing Gourde with Steven Stamkos provides a ton of upside in what should be a high-scoring affair.

DEFENSE

Morgan Rielly, TOR vs TB ($5,000): Rielly has been back in action for four games after missing nearly a month due to injury and hasn't missed a beat. The fifth-year pro, who's on pace to set a career high in points, has a point in two of his four games since returning and has averaged 2.25 shots on goal per game over that span. Rielly looks to build off his recent play in a home matchup, where he's recorded 95 of his 152 career points.

Aaron Ekblad, FLA at EDM ($5,100): Ekblad has a ton of promise as a young defenseman with great offensive skills. As the first-overall pick in the 2014 draft, Ekblad has had a lot of expectations to live up to after winning the Calder Trophy in 2014-2015. Ekblad has two goals and two assists over his last four games and has averaged four DraftKings points per game over his last nine appearances.
