FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Goalie

Antti Raanta, ARI vs VAN ($7,500): Raanta has been sidelined since March 4 but is expected to man the net Sunday. Vancouver averages just 2.69 goals per game, ranking them 23rd in that department. Before his injury, Raanta had been rolling with three wins in a row allowing just four goals and starting off his streak by pitching a shutout against Anaheim on Feb. 24. Without Brock Boeser over their last two games, the Canucks have lost both of those games scoring a total of just three goals.

Center

Derek Stepan, ARI vs VAN ($6,000): Stepan has a point in three of his last four games with a goal and two assists over that span. The Canucks have allowed the second-most fantasy points to centers over the last four weeks including 18 goals and 26 assists. The Minnesota native has a goal, an assist and six shots on goal in his last two outings against Vancouver and will look to continue producing against them at home on Sunday.

Mathew Barzal, NYI at CGY ($6,300): Barzal looks to be in the driver's seat for the Calder Trophy, especially with Vancouver stud winger Brock Boeser sidelined with a back injury. The 20-year-old pivot has just two assists in his last four games but could be in for a big night against the Flames, who struggle with centers. Over their last 14 games, the Flames have allowed 23 goals, 17 assists and 138 shots on goal to the position.

Wing

Micheal Ferland, CGY vs NYI ($4,500): In three games since returning from a four-game absence due to injury, Ferland has two assists skating on the Flames' top line with Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau. His price and matchup couldn't be much better: The Islanders have allowed the second-most fantasy points to right wingers over the last four weeks. In those 12 games, right wingers have buried 14 goals, dished out 12 assists and fired 90 shots on goal.

Matthew Tkachuk, CGY vs NYI ($6,700): If you haven't noticed the trend, I love this game between the Islanders and Flames in Calgary. Tkachuk hasn't lit the lamp in his last seven games, suggesting that he's due to bury one tonight. Over that seven-game stretch, the 20-year-old sophomore has directed 30 SOG and should get plenty of opportunities to continue firing Sunday. The Islanders allow 35.7 shots per game -- the second-highest mark in the league.

Brendan Perlini, ARI vs VAN ($3,400): Perlini is always a supreme value play as his salary hasn't been higher than $4,100 all season. Skating on the Coyotes' first line with Derek Stepan and Clayton Keller, Perlini is sure to see some scoring opportunities. The Canucks have allowed 13 goals and 15 assists to left wingers in their last 13 games, including two assists to Perlini Mar. 7.

Defense

Nick Leddy, NYI at CGY ($5,100): Leddy has been a complete disaster on the defensive end this season, but luckily for us, FanDuel did away with the plus/minus aspect of scoring, so we have nothing to worry about! In all seriousness, Leddy draws a great matchup with the Flames, who've allowed 34 points (with 13 goals) to defensemen over their last 14 games. The former Blackhawk has two points, both assists in his last four games, but does have 10 SOG over that span.

John Klingberg, DAL at PIT ($6,000): Klingberg's 50 assists lead the league amongst defensemen, and his 57 points are one shy of tying his career high in his fourth NHL season. The Swede averages 2.12 points per 60 minutes, which ranks fourth at the position and has dished out three assists in his last five games. The Penguins have allowed a goal and six assists to defensemen in their last three games, including four helpers surrendered to Toronto on Saturday.
