Suffers broken nose

November 3, 2020
Silva is facing a six-month medical suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission pending medical clearance of a broken nose, Mike Heck of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Silva has all but confirmed his retirement despite having one fight left on his UFC contract, and it's clear UFC President Dana White has no intentions of booking him again. Should Silva ultimately be released from that contract and look to fight elsewhere, he'll have to wait until at least April 30 of next year, or get proper clearance from a physician.
All but confirms retirement

Silva released a statement via his Instagram account Sunday afternoon in which he said "goodbye" to his life as a professional mixed martial artist, Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting reports.
ANALYSIS
There were a lot of questions surrounding Silva's future after his defeat to Uriah Hall via TKO (punches) at Saturday night's UFC Fight Night. The 45-year-old had one more fight left on his UFC deal although many were speaking for him saying that he should be done regardless. With his message Sunday, Silva sounded pretty convincing that he's moving on. He claimed that "he's feeling at peace" and continued to thank many people who have helped him along the way. The Spider's legendary fighting career seems to be over, and his next stop will surely be the UFC Hall of Fame.
Storied UFC run comes to an end

Silva lost to Uriah Hall via TKO (punches) at 1:24 of Round 4 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Silva looked pretty good for the better part of three rounds before the roof caved in. Hall knocked him down late in Round 3 before adding another one early in Round 4. All in all, Anderson looked just fine for a 45-year-old fighter, but it's clear he is reaching (or has already reached) the end of the line. The big story here obviously is Silva's future. ESPN's Ariel Helwani reported that Silva has two fights left on his deal, including this one. Anderson has openly flip-flopped on admitting this will be his last professional fight. One thing everyone seems to agree on is that this will be Silva's last fight with the UFC. It's an odd situation given the status of his contract. Anderson's legacy is secure, but this is a guy who is 1-7-1 in his past eight fights dating back to July 2013. It would probably be best for all involved if Silva hung up the gloves for good.
In line for Oct. 31 return

August 19, 2020
Silva is expected to face Uriah Hall in a middleweight fight Oct. 31, in what could be "The Spider's" final UFC bout, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports. "I met with [Silva's] managers the other day; this will be his last fight. I think he's going to retire," UFC president Dana White said.
ANALYSIS
The 45-year-old's matchup with Hall is expected to serve as the headliner for the Halloween card, with the UFC having yet to decide on a location for the event. Silva is 1-6 with a no contest in his last eight fights, and this very well could be the final fight of his storied MMA career. Win or lose -- and he'll definitely be a betting underdog -- it won't take long for Silva to be enshrined in the UFC Hall of Fame, as many consider him one of the greatest fighters to grace the Octagon, regardless of weight class.
Hopes for two more fights

Silva underwent knee surgery recently and still intends to finish the two fights left on his UFC contract, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
There was a lot of talk of potential injuries suffered by Silva in his UFC 237 matchup against Jared Cannonier that took place just under a year ago, but Silva's camp insisted that no major ligament damage had taken place. His name hasn't came up in any recent matchmaking conversations, however, and he hasn't competed since. SIlva, who turned 45 years old in April, failed to specify a timetable for his return.
