Drops decision against Lorenz Larkin in the Bellator 193 main event
Gonzalez lost to Lorenz Larkin via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27) at Bellator 193 on Friday in Temecula, Calif.
ANALYSIS
Over the course of his Bellator career, Gonzalez has proven that he is a game competitor. He has made some high profile opponents look terrible against him. However, he is rarely able to pull out the win in these fights against top competition. This was another example. His defensive style gave Larkin a lot of trouble. With that being said, Gonzalez simply did not have enough offense to win this fight. He will continue to fight Bellator, but, at this point, it looks like he will not get over the hump against higher level fighters. Gonzalez also missed weight for the third-straight fight even though Bellator made the bout at a 180-pound catchweight.

Girtz was able to consistently attempt takedowns. However, Gonzalez did a great job of threatening with guillotine chokes and getting back to his feet. In the third round, he turned it on and hurt his opponent multiple times. Gonzalez finally broke through with a big win in Bellator after coming close against Paul Daley and Michael Page.
