2024 Projections
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Even relative to the expectations of being the No. 2 overall pick, Hutchinson has been plenty productive through his first two seasons. He's combined to produce 21 sacks and 23 tackles for loss in 34 games. While his surface stats were nearly identical from 2022 to 2023, both his improved playmaking and peripheral stats make clear that we should expect more from Hutchinson. Most notably, he doubled his quarterback hits (15 to 33), increased his tackles for loss from nine to 14 and also forced three fumbles from his rookie to sophomore campaigns. His ability to get to the quarterback is particularly positive and illustrates his ability to produce at the levels of elite pass rushers around the league, as only T.J. Watt (36) and Nick Bosa (35) logged more quarterback hits than Hutchinson (33). The final piece to the puzzle is the rest of the defensive line supporting him, as Alim McNeil and new addition DJ Reader will occupy offensive lineman and keep double teams away from Hutchinson. Year three has all the makings of a breakout. Read Past Outlooks
Keeps improving
Hutchinson recorded 51 tackles with 11.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, seven passes defended and one interception over 17 regular-season games in 2023.
ANALYSIS
Quickly ascending to the upper echelon of defensive ends, Hutchinson tied for sixth in sacks and second in pass breakups among all defensive linemen. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft was also a force in run defense for a Lions unit that finished near the top of the league in most run-defense metrics, like yards per rush allowed (3.7) and rushing yards per game allowed (88.8). However, an inability to find a pass-rushing complement to the newly minted Pro Bowler has hindered a Lions defense that finished with the ninth-fewest sacks (51) in 2023. It is not unrealistic to think Hutchinson's production could improve if the Lions can find a worthy sidekick this offseason.

Wild-card candidate for DPOY
Bucky Brooks of NFL.com believes Hutchinson is an outside candidate for the Defensive Player of the Year award.
ANALYSIS
The list has Myles Garrett, Micah Parsons, T.J. Watt, Nick Bosa and Chris Jones ahead of Hutchinson in the DPOY race, but Brooks does note that what separates Hutchinson from the rest of the competition is his 27 QB pressures in four games, per Pro Football Focus. Hutchinson has been a large factor in the Lions' 3-1 start and has accumulated 12 tackles -- including nine solo and 3.5 sacks -- three pass deflections and a forced fumble to start the season. He's part of a Lions defense that leads the league with 13 sacks and ranks fourth in rushing yards allowed per game at 60.8. Hutchinson could climb up that list if he helps the Lions win the division for the first time in team history.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Hutchinson is primed for another productive season after leading the Lions with 9.5 sacks as a rookie. There doesn't seem to be any reason he can't keep logging close to 90 percent of the team's defensive snaps, and he figures to only gain responsibilities in run defense entering his second year. While the Michigan product likely won't be getting three interceptions in a season again, double-digit sacks and an improvement upon the 52 tackles Hutchinson logged last year are fully in the cards.
